Butler Resources

Butler Resources

My case study was about an eighteen year old girl who is going through hard times. Her hard times being: boyfriend of two years breaking up with her, parents getting a divorce and finding out that she is pregnant. As all of this is happening she is also adapting to her first year in college. In complete panic she doesn't know where to turn, how can this be happening to her?
First thing I would tell her is that you can over come this. Many young women go through the same thing that you are. It might be hard to do by yourself but Butler has resources that can help you through this. There are counseling sessions offered through the school and also through the town. In El Dorado they have a pregnancy center that is located right on central when coming into Butler, they will offer you a free testing and direct you to further help if needed. Not far from there is a counseling center that can help you through the hard times.
In using these resources to your advantage will help you through the break up, your parents divorce and your pregnancy. It may be mind boggling thinking about being to young to be a parent, but you to learn to take responsibility towards your actions. Even though you want out of it, and you want it all to go away; stick with it. Count your blessings, and always remember that someone somewhere is going through a similar situation or even a harder time.
Let your parents intervene with your situation it could have a positive outcome for their relationship if they have to pull together for the benefit of you and their grandchild.

Academic Plans

After attending Butler County Community College I plan to transfer to Wichita State University. I want to major in dental hygiene, and also receive a bachelor’s degree in this profession.
The requirements for applying to this program are the following: college English I, general chemistry, introduction to microbiology, human anatomy and physiology, general psychology, principles of nutrition, public speaking and introduction to sociology. After this semester I only have to take a nutrition and chemistry class. In getting my bachelors degree, I decided to stay one more year at Butler to get the requirements finished with.
During the summer I plan to take a math class along with a nutrition class.
The fall semester I will be taking mostly classes that will look good on my application and go towards my degree.
During high school I was fortunate enough to be to take college courses. I was eligible to take college English and college speech, I took the courses there at the high school which was a familiar environment, and I am glad I did it that way.
In getting my degree I want to work for my family dentist, he has inspired me to choose this profession.
Hopefully all that I have planned will work out well, and I look forward to seeing where it will all take me.

Time Management

Time Management
Time is something we wish we had more time of. It is either working well with you or against you. Some of us enjoy keeping it, others hate it.
I would like to think that i manage my time very well for how young I am. I work forty hours a week, and have a reasonable amount of homework. Most of the time I plan my school assignments to work around my work schedule. Taking psychology classes helped me learn new ways to memorize text. One of the ways was reading over your material before bed, and go back over it in the morning. For the most part it has worked quite well for me.
Studying on the weekends is so hard for me; the hardest part is setting time aside even though sometimes it means not hanging out with your friends. When I Manage time wisely I feel more energized and more head strong about my academic abilities. When managing time poorly I tend to feel more lazy and less confident in myself.
In looking back I would say I manage my time better than in high school. Even with more stress and responsibility I have adapted to the change and learned how to deal with it.
Overall I would say that I have done well these past semesters in my time management skills.
