Community Service

Community Service

I took a look around my community and noticed a few things that could be changed. The major thing I noticed is how the community has abandoned the elderly people, those that live in the care homes. Most have no families that live around here, and are starving for attention and to have a conversation that doesn’t require talking about their health problems.
If the community would pull together and begin a small organization that would work out a scheduled time to visit them.
To accomplish a good community service organization the volunteers need to see how lonely some people are. I am not saying that all individuals who live in a care home are lonely. Many families go and see their loved ones who live there, but what about those who don’t have a spouse and their children do not live close by.
If those who join the organization would rotate times during the week to visit them the elderly would get the attention they need and deserve. They have given to the community, now it is our turn to try to give it back to them. Think about what you would want when you are their age. Everyone deserves to have companionship; wouldn’t you like to have someone to talk to?
If we would pay more attention to those who need our in the easiest way, all we have to do is listen and to just be there so they feel they closure. With this idea I hope that we all can come together and give back to the elderly.
