I Believe

I believe

I believe any individual had the ability to accomplish their goals, regardless of what others say.
Today society is always telling us how we need to have a certain score on our ACT or any test, and it will tell us how educated we are and how far we could go in life. In high school my counselor was notorious for talking about scores, IQ, college and what she thought was a good career plan. After taking the ACT’s a couple times and not scoring well I thought I wasn’t smart enough to attend college.
When I was younger I was known and still am known as the more creative type, one who uses the right side of the brain more than the left. I really wanted to go into design. When telling my counselor she just kind of ignored it and was more annoyed with the fact.
Even though I had the grades and the Grade point average I still had trouble believing myself. When senior year came around I made myself decide on what I wanted. I did this by going back into my child hood and remembering what I wanted to be, but within the years had pushed aside. I came to realized that I always wanted to be a dental hygienist, but never thought I had the ability to go through that much school and make the requirements that it asks for. When my counselor from high school heard she told how more successful this career would be than the other. Now I still want to be a designer but I really want to get dentistry finished with first.
In getting good scholarships from butler and talking to an academic counselor from Wichita State about the dental program. I realized I had the ability and the ambition to accomplish this goal.
Just within this year of college I have learned a lot about myself and my beliefs. And I believe anyone can accomplish their goals regardless of what you are told and how society views your goals. If you want something bad enough you will get what you want, all you have to do is work hard to get it.
